On 20-2-1852 at 19 years of age Charles arrived in Australia on the 'Amazon' from Plymouth

His brothers William and James, his sister Rebecca and his Uncle William had already migrated.

Like his brothers William and James, Charles had arranged a lease of land around Greenock in South Australia from Robert Bevan Esquire. Unlike his his brothers he did not purchase the land and in 1881 he moved his family to Vctoria where he purchased a property at Warburton.
